Youth Summer Job Opportunity: Proposal Writer

Parker Street Food & Furniture Bank is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented post secondary student to join our team as a Proposal Writer. This individual will play a crucial role in identifying grants that align with our organization’s mission and mandate as well as assisting in the development and submission of grant proposals.

Reporting:

You will report to the Director of Donor Relations & Communications for information regarding your schedule, your job performance and any issues pertaining to them.

Responsibilities:

1. Grant Identification

• Conduct research to identify potential grant opportunities that align with Parker Street Food & Furniture Bank’s mission.

• Analyze and assess eligibility criteria for various grants to ensure compatibility with the organization’s goals.

2. Grant Writing

• Assist in the development and writing of grant proposals, ensuring clarity, coherence, and alignment with the organization’s mandate.

• Collaborate with the Donor Relations team to gather necessary information and data for proposal submissions.

• Edit and proofread grant proposals for accuracy and adherence to guidelines.

3. Research and Documentation

• Support the research initiatives related to grant opportunities, program evaluation and community needs.

• Maintain a comprehensive database of potential funding sources, deadlines and application requirements.

4. Collaboration

• Collaborate with internal teams to gather information and insights essential for grant proposals.

• Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to ensure accurate representation of the organization in grant applications.

Skills and Qualifications Required:

• Currently enrolled as a university student with a background in a relevant field such as English, Communications, Non-profit Management or a related discipline.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Excellent research skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

• Basic knowledge of grant writing principles (prior experience is an asset but not required).

• Commitment to understanding and promoting the mission of Parker Street Food and Furniture Bank.

Shift Requirement:

• Approximately 35 scheduled hours per week

• Suggested shift: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday

• Occasional after-hours work may be required
