Job Description and Duties

Parker Street Food & Furniture Bank is currently searching for a dedicated individual to join our growing team! The primary role of the Assistant Food Coordinator is to receive food donations, distribute food to clients and oversee our volunteers daily. Duties include but are not limited to: sorting donations, training volunteers, distributing food to clients and maintaining a clean and organized storeroom. An ideal candidate would be a highly organized individual who enjoys working with people and exemplifies our organization’s values of compassion, charity, innovation and dignity.

About Parker Street Food & Furniture Bank

Parker Street Food & Furniture Bank opened in 1983 in a small garage with just a handful of volunteers. Since then we have grown into the largest independent food bank in Nova Scotia. In 2020, we helped over 33,000 individuals in our community with food, furniture, emergency assistance with bills, school supplies, and more! Our vision is to work together to create a hunger-free community and to improve the lives of those in need in a caring and compassionate manner.

Shift Information:
  • 40 hours per week
  • Suggested shift: Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (moderate flexibility)

COVID-19 Considerations:
  • All employees, volunteers and clients are required to wear masks while on the property. Masks, gloves and hand sanitizer are readily available. Currently food service takes place outside as to limit the amount of individuals who enter the building.
