The Turkey Club

Helping to make a brighter, happier holiday season for struggling families since 2004

The Turkey Club

The Turkey Club was founded by the late Jack Cruickshank in 2004 with a simple goal; help make a brighter, happier holiday season for those families who are struggling. Incorporated that same year as ‘The Turkey Club Society’ and registered as a charity, the group of dedicated volunteers began providing Christmas turkey dinner hampers to those families in need.
In 2011, Jack and the rest of the Board of Directors of The Turkey Club Society brought the society under the fundraising program of Parker Street Food & Furniture Bank.
The Turkey Club is now a full part of Parker Street’s operations and annual donations continue to assist needy families in the Halifax Region during the Christmas season.
For more information please call 902-377-4774 or email turkeyclub@parkerstreet.org.

MISSION

Working with our community to provide food, furniture and emergency assistance to those in need.

VALUES

  • Impact – We impact the lives of individuals and families by providing the necessities of life – food, clothing, beds to sleep in, heat… and most important of all, care.
  • Dignity – Treating our clients with dignity means treating them the way we would like to be treated ourselves. Every human has the right to lead a dignified life and fulfill their potential.
  • Innovation – We seek effective solutions by bringing together various ideas that have a positive impact on employees, clients, and the community.
  • Charity – This is personal, voluntary giving of one’s possessions, typically in the form of money, no matter how small, for the sake of helping those in need. Charity, when considered from a Christian perspective, equates to love. Habitual acts of charity relate not only to the love of God but also to justice and generosity for the marginalized in our communities.
  • Compassion – We render service to others in a caring and compassionate way, with kindness, empathy, and love.
