2013 Annual Fundraising Dinner & Auction
Parker Street Food and Furniture Bank hosted its Annual Dinner & Auction on September 17, 2013 at the Cunard Centre in Halifax. One of the evening’s many highlights was local businessman and guest speaker Colin MacDonald’s heartfelt speech, in which he spoke of his childhood in Fairview, growing up with an understanding of what it means to be sometimes cold and hungry.
We were thrilled and surprised when Mr. MacDonald issued a challenge to all guests present: he would match dollar for dollar all donations made that evening, and also promised that his brother, Mickey MacDonald, would do the same!
Another highlight was the presentation of a $10,000 cheque from Juicy Fruit Market Inc.
The Annual Fundraising Dinner & Auction was made possible through the generosity of our sponsors. Parker Street was once again pleased to welcome back Juicy Fruit Market Inc. as our Presenting Sponsor and greatly appreciative of their generous long-time commitment to supporting the efforts of Parker Street Food & Furniture Bank. We are very grateful for the generous support of Silver Sponsors: Maple Trade Finance, Scotiabank, and Sobeys. Bronze Sponsors: Manulife Financial and Heritage Gas. We also want to give thanks to in-kind sponsors Sound Systems+, Snapd and East Coast Dynamics.
A special thank you is extended to Ed McHugh, our emcee and auctioneer, and event committee members Ashley Patterson, Marilyn Pincock and Pamela Barnes.
A big thank you to all who participated, making this a great evening of celebration of 30 years in the community! You made this event an incredible success, raising more than $75,000 to help provide the basic essentials necessary for reasonable living conditions, such as food, furniture and emergency assistance.
Parker Street is grateful for the outstanding support of our 2013 Dinner sponsors.
